Types of nozzle in steam turbine

A steam turbine is an advanced technology that converts steams energy to mechanical energy. This mechanical energy can be used to generate electricity we use in our homes and industries. A nozzle is a significant portion of steam turbine. This is important because nozzles are responsible for controlling the way steam passes through blades in turbines. Steam Turbines employs various types of nozzles and each Nozzle has its own specific nature used in steam turbines

Steam Turbines are design with different types of nozzles, from which Convert Nozzle, DIV and C-D Nozzle is more common type of configuration. Both have obviously different options for dealing with steam. Converging nozzles are used to accelerate the steam. They achieve this by constricting the area through which the steam passes, causing it to move more quickly. Diverging nozzles operate in contrast. However, they are designed to reduce the speed of steam and at the same time increase its pressure. It helps the steam to get more powerful gathering energy. Lastly,   O. B. T gas turbine blade of the molecular beam only use both of these attributes. At the same time, they can raise the speed of the steam and pressure.

Overview of Steam Turbine Nozzle Designs

It is referred to as a converging nozzle, this nozzle design is the simplest and therefore it is used universally on low-pressure turbines. They mainly assist in accelerating the steam so that it is able to turn the turbine blades more effectively. On the other hand, Divergent nozzles are Reversible in high-pressure turbines. They are designed to reduce the speed of gas steam and to increase its pressure. This is so as the steam at this stage needs to release more energy in order to turn the blades effectively

In the present case, the converging-diverging nozzles are used as much as any of a number of supply nozzles. These are employed in turbines with a high-efficiency requirement. The whole point of these nozzles is to increase the kinetic and potential energy of steam as it exits. Nevertheless, O.B.T steam turbine blade does cost more to produce them than the other types of nozzles and it has a tendency for rapidly deterioration over time.
