It helps the engine operate properly also over a range of altitudes and speeds. As an example, at high altitudes in airplanes, the adjustable blades can be used to optimize performance so that it remains unergonomic regardless of conditions.

The nozzles vanes are of two types one is converging and second being any type known as a Converging-Diverging. When gases pass into the converging nozzle vanes, they are meant to function towards moving quickly. Converging-diverging nozzle vanes also expand the gases to greater speeds and pressure.
